I know. It’s been a week since my last post, I’m sorry. I’ve decided I want to take a little more time inbetween each post to really be able to work on content I am excited about. This last week has been extra busy, and as you know there was Valentine’s Day! I know some people don’t like Valentine’s Day, but I love it. I don’t need to beg Steffen to buy me expensive jewelry or chocolate just for some little holiday. We like to use Valentine’s Day as a reminder to stop and appreciate eachother.
Oddly enough, this was our 7th Valentine together and it was the first time we went out to dinner. With so many new restaurants to try in Pau, we can’t help but find an excuse to go out. Finally having a date night was lovely, there is something fun about getting a little dressed up and changing the routine. No netflix with dinner tonight!
Back to Reality
Other then a fantastic date night, I’ve finally gone back into wedding planning mode. I’m someone who has had Pinterest boards made up with all my wedding desires for years now. When Steffen and I got engaged last May, I thought this would be a breeze. Just copy and paste my Pinterest inspiration into real life, right?
Turns out those pictures of perfect weddings actually cost money and require spending a little time investigating different florists, photographers and DJs. Silly me, so naive.
After a few moments of thinking “Nope, reschedule the wedding, there is no way I can pull this together!” I snapped out of it and started making lists of things that need to get done. I’m a list type of person, if I need to do something I have to write it down or make notes, otherwise I completely forget about it. Steffen was also a huge help here, he knows how I am when I start stress spiraling and knows exactly how to calm me down. Deep breaths and making lists.
Wedding Planning Resources
Crisis averted and I was able to get myself back on track. I like to use The Knot for help with wedding planning. This has a been a great tool for finding various vendors in the San Diego area, along with giving me honest reviews from fellow brides.
I’ve also been a part of a wedding planning group on Facebook called The Wedding Connection which has also been a huge help. This group can be overwhelming at times, with 70,000+ members, but it has proven itself quite useful. I shared some pictures of the photography style I preferred, mentioned when and where I was getting married. Within a few hours I had a list of at least 10 photographers to get in touch with. Facebook really has a group for everything, what a time to be alive.
Getting Things Done
I still have a lot of decisions to make, at least I’ve got:
- The Venue
- The Food
- The Booze
- The Dress
Arguably, some of the most important stuff is done. If you’re someone who is in the middle of wedding planning and you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t worry. I’m pretty sure most brides have a moment of panic, worrying nothing is getting done. I felt so behind in my own planning, but after spending a couple hours researching florists and DJs, sending out some emails, and getting price quotes I feel in control again. Try my tactic, deep breaths and making lists.
Whether you are planning an elaborate wedding, or simply eloping, wedding planning should be a fun and exciting time in your life. Don’t let the stress get to you, enjoy this moment.
I’ve got some fun ideas for my future posts, later this week I’ll be sharing some of my favorite beauty products for February. In the meantime, be sure to follow my facebook page to be updated whenever new posts come out and check out some of my other Valentine’s Day related posts.
