Délicieux cocktails de pamplemousse
Spring is definitely in the air in Pau! The days are getting longer, the grass is greener, and the birds are singing. This is such a nice time of year for me, it lifts my mood out of the winter gloom.
To celebrate the beginning of spring I thought I would search the internet for grapefruit themed cocktails, test them on Steffen and myself, and share with you my top 5 favorite drinks. With it’s zesty freshness and bright color, grapefruit is the perfect way to welcome this lovely weather.
My goal was to find recipes that anyone could make at home without being a master mixologist, while also including easy to find ingredients. Before I dive into the final five I’d like to add that if you would want to make these all at home in one day I highly recommend prepping your simple syrups and juicing all your fruits first to make the process of mixing the drinks much faster.
1. Rosemary Grapefruit Refresher
This delicious drink is easy to make and will impress any guest. The recipe calls for gin or vodka, I personally used vodka because it has such a subtle taste. This one was one of Steffen’s favorites because of how refreshing it is; it really lives up to its name! It doesn’t have a strong flavor, but definitely will cool you down on a hot, sunny day.
To find the full recipe and how to make rosemary simple syrup head on over to Happily Eva After’s blog for more details.
2. Lime-Grapefruit-Basil Gin Punch
This drink is perfect for a party! When I tested this fun drink on Steffen he couldn’t tell it had gin in it because the flavor is so subtle. That makes this drink perfect for an event because people who think they won’t like gin, won’t even know there is gin in it.
I found this cocktail at The Roaming Kitchen, her recipe was meant for a large batch to serve a party. As I had 4 other cocktails to make I divided her recipe into thirds to make 2 drinks. Any beginner could make this drink, as long as you have some patience for prepping the juice and basil syrup.
3. Grapefruit Moscow Mule
I love a classic Moscow Mule, it’s a favorite for my mom and I whenever I’m visiting her. Sadly, I left my copper mugs in Norway, so I didn’t get to use them for this drink. Nevertheless, this springtime version of a mule tasted amazing! It wasn’t too different from the classic version because the ginger beer is a very distinct flavor.
With only three ingredients, this drink is very easy and fast to make. I have a feeling we will be making this a lot throughout the spring time. I found the original recipe for this at Greens & Chocolate check her blog out for the full recipe.
4. Grapefruit Mojito
Mojito’s are such a delicious drink that offers many combinations, from mango to blueberry; so why not make a grapefruit version? I found this simple recipe from Melanie Makes, be sure to check it out for all the details.
Steffen and I enjoyed this cocktail, it was light and refreshing and you can adjust the sweetness to your personal taste. Some mojito recipes call for muddling with granulated sugar, this one used simple syrup. Next time we make this I will muddle the sugar to compare the difference.
5. The Perfect Grapefruit Margarita
I’m a margarita lover, especially one that is unique and not your traditional marg. Obviously I had to find a grapefruit margarita to try for this list. Thanks to Hither & Tither, I found the perfect recipe that is both easy and delicious.
I saved this drink for last because it has the strongest flavor. The other drinks definitely mask the alcohol flavor, but there is no hiding tequila. This is a drink I would love to have during the summer time, especially to share with friends. Out of all the cocktails I made, this one was my absolute favorite.
Which Cocktail is Your Favorite?
There you have it! My top 5 favorite grapefruit cocktails. Whether you prefer vodka, gin, tequila, or rum there is a grapefruit drink out there for you. Let me know in the comments if you try some of the cocktails and which one is your favorite.
I love to hear feedback from you on what you enjoy and what you’d like to read more about. This process was really fun for Steffen and I, we spent a warm Saturday afternoon sampling each drink and comparing favorites. I’m a fan of grapefruit and finding a new way to enjoy them is even better. Be sure to check out more fun drink recipes that I’ve tried here!
